Al-Azhar University- Gaza

Al Azhar University- Gaza (AUG) is the hosting institute for the First International Conference on Basic & Applied Sciences (ICBAS).

AUG is an independent non-governmental Palestinian university established in 1991 in the Gaza City.  AUG has been launched to be a non-conventional lighthouse in the course of higher education in Palestine. At present, the AUG is a campus for eleven different faculties introducing mainly undergraduate programs in addition to some postgraduate programs in selected fields.

AUG is one of the leading higher education institutions in the area. The mission of the AUG is based on its vision and core values. The AUG role is not limited to teaching, research, and community services. The University is also an instrumental element in the development of all fields: health, cultural, social, economic, scientific and technological. The AUG realizes that the key to success is its ability to significantly contribute to the development of the country. The AUG is committed to achieve its mission and goals by utilizing all available intellectual and physical resources.

The academic staff in AUG in the academic year 2008/2009 is 393 members. About 14,000 students are involved in the different degree-programs at AUG with females constituting almost 50 % of the total students.
