The First Mutual Scientific Conference Held

On April 10, 2016 – In conjunction with World Health Day, the Faculty of Medicine and the International Federation of Medical Students' Association (IFMSA)–Gaza organized the first mutual scientific conference in collaboration with Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

The conference was attended by Dr. Mohammed Salama, a member of Palestine Medical Council and AUG's board of Trustees and Dr. Samir Isamil, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Hassna'a Al Sharif, Representative of the Ministry of Health and Dr. Salah Al Haj Yehya, Director of Outpatient Clinics in PHR, in addition to a number of PHR-I's physicians and the faculty members and students.

Director of IFMSA, Student Mohamed Awni Taha, thanked AUG for its efforts to support medicine students and turn their ideas into reality. He expressed the IFMSA's aspiration to hold more clinical courses in OPT hospitals.

 In his remarks, Dr. Ismail extended his gratitude to PHR's endeavors in the medical sector, appreciating their efforts in this conference.

For his part, Dr. Salah Al Haj Yehya expressed his willingness to cooperate with the Faculty of Medicine and support its students to achieve scientific progress is for the welfare of the Palestinian society.

It's worth mentioning that the conference included many scientific lectures and research papers that discussed diabetes on the grounds that the World Health Organization marked the 2016 World Health Day with the theme "Beat Diabetes".
