Faculty of Agriculture and Environment Received FAO Delegates

Oct 13, 2016 - Mr. Rohan Abayasekara, Field Operations of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations FAO and Eng. Adham Al Khati from FAO office in Gaza. The delegates were received by Dr. Ahmad Abu Shaban, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ismail Abu-Zinada, Head of Plant Production & Protection Dep. and Jamil Al Zaneen, Director of Beit Hanoun Farm.

During the meeting, Dr. Abu Shaban pointed out the main challenges that impede the Faculty's role as the only academic institution in Gaza, concerned in developing the agricultural sector. He went on to highlight the significant cooperation with FAO in helping the Faculty overcome these obstacles, through implementing several projects  such as training  farmers in Um An Nasser Village as well as the hydroponics experiments in the Faculty. 

The attendees discussed the mutual cooperation to enhance the Faculty's potentials, promote the Farm's capacities, and hold agricultural training and extension programs for the Faculty students and the farming community in the Gaza Strip.
