Oct 13, 2016 - Under the patronage of His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, National Erasmus+ Office in Palestine (NEO) and The Minister of Education & Higher Education in Palestine launched an information day on Erasmus+.
The event took place at Grand Park Hotel in Ramallah and was connected to Al Azhar University-Gaza (AUG) through video conference link. Eng. Adnan Samara, Representative of President Mahmoud Abbas, Dr. Sabri Saidam, Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Nidal Al-Jayousi, National Erasmus Office Director in Palestine, and Mr. Munib al-Masri, representative of the private sector , in addition to Prof. Dr. Sami Muslih, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Marwan Al-Agha Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Alian, Dean of Faculty of Education as well as representatives of a number of Palestinian universities and beneficiaries of the program attended the event.
In his remarks, Eng. Samara commended on the role of Erasmus+ Office in Palestine, stressing that the Palestinian leadership will always support and collaborate with all programs that contribute to enhancing the quality of higher education in Palestine.
Al-Jayousi thanked the Palestinian universities, particularly in Gaza for their effective participation in the program. He presented a general overview and discussed in details the mechanism of applying for this program.
Porf. Dr. Sami Muslih highlighted the important role of Erasmus program in supporting the education sector, through opening new programs, strengthening the higher education sector, improving educational services, and developing the administrative, academic and technical staff capacities in higher education.
During the event, representatives of winning Erasmus+ projects in the Palestinian universities presented their experiences and best practices in proposal applications.
