Prof. Sirdah Participated in the Fifth Palestinian Pediatrics Conference

Dec 4, 2016 - Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Sirdah, Professor of Blood Pathophysiology and Molecular Genetics at the Faculty of Science, participated in the scientific days of the Fifth Palestinian Pediatrics Conference, held in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, WHO, UNICEF, and All Kindness for Our Kids Organization.

Prof. Dr. Sirdah submitted a paper entitled" G6PD Deficiency in Gaza: Evaluation and Recommendations". He pointed out that the results of the study, conducted in Al Nasser Pediatric Hospital, show that most of children who suffer from anemia have Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD deficiency). He also discussed the prevalence of G6PD deficiency in the Middle East, especially among males and its genetic cause.
