Panel Discussion on Youth Employment Projects in Advancing Development




Dec 24, 2016 – The Deanship of Planning and Quality Assurance organized a panel discussion on the role of youth employment projects in advancing development.

Representatives of relief organizations supervising a number of youth employment projects, representatives of the private sector, and interested academics and researchers attended the discussion.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Ali Abu Zaid, Dean of Planning and Quality Assurance stressed the significance of such topic for AUG which is keen to follow up its graduates and broaden their employment prospects. He went on to highlight that this event came in the context of APPEAR- funded project "Rooting Development in the Palestinian Context", implemented in partnership with Birzeit University and the University of Vienna.

The attendees discussed the role of governmental and non-governmental institutions in creating job opportunities for young people through supporting youth projects and initiatives. They recommended the following (i) support youth employment projects for its important role in advancing development; (ii) effectively manage the private sector funds of social responsibility; (iii) and establish business incubators to support young entrepreneurs.
