Jan 22, 2017- AUG welcomed an official delegation of the Representative Office of Norway to Palestine, included Counsellor Mr. Thomas Rem Berdal, and Ms. Margrete Laland, second Secretary at the Norwegian Representative Office.
Prof. Dr. Sami Muslih, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Dr. Usama Zaineldeen, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs; Eng. Mohamed El Wazir, Director of Projects Unit; Eng. Ragib Atallah, President Consultant for Engineering and Technical Affairs; and Eng. Maher Anan , Consultant in Future For Palestine (FFP).
The purpose of the visit was to follow- up "Solar Energy Electricity - Generating and Storing" Project in AUG, funded by the Norwegian Foreign Ministry and supervised by FFP.
Prof. Dr. Muslih appreciated the great efforts of the Norway Representative Office to support the first project in AUG in terms of generating and storing electricity from solar energy.
For his part, Mr. Berdal briefly discussed the activities of the representative office in implementing vital infrastructure projects, thus contributing to alleviate the burden of the Palestinian people, especially the marginalized groups.
Eng. Al Wazir highly applauded the unique project in the field of sustainable and clean energy, stressing AUG's keenness to keep up with technology in finding alternative energy for electricity, especially in light of Gaza power crisis.
Eng. Atallah pointed out that the project generates 75 kilowatts of electricity, thus significantly contributing in diminishing AUG's operating expenses.
At the end, the delegates took a field trip where the implementing company briefed them on the current stage of the project.
