Chinese Ambassador to Palestine Visited AUG




Mar 9, 2017 – His Excellency Chen Xingzhong, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the State of Palestine, and the embassy staff members visited AUG. The delegates were accompanied by Dr. Kamal El Sharafi, Advisor to the Palestinian President for Human Rights and Civil Society.

The delegates were welcomed by Dr. Abdulrahman Hamad, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Abdelkhaliq El Farra, President of AUG; Prof. Dr. Sami Muslih, Vice Presdient for Acdemic Affairs; Dr. Marwan Al Agha, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Prof. Dr. Moahmmed Salah Abu Hamaida, Dean of Scientific Reserach; Dr. Ali Abu Zaid, Dean of Planning and Quality Assurance; Dr. Mazen Hamada, President of the Board- University Presidency; and Eng. Moahmed Al Wazir, Director of Projects Unit.

Dr. Abdulrahman Hamad welcomed the visiting delegates, emphasizing the depth of the Chinese-Palestinian relations and extending his appreciation for the unwavering Chinese position in supporting the Palestinian and their just cause.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Abbdelkhaliq El Farra briefed on the university and explained the challenges that face it in light of the critical political and economic situation in the Gaza Strip. He went on to mention how such challenges impeded establishing a building for the Faculty of Law in 2000 by a generous support from the People's Republic of China.

For his part,   His Excellency Chen Xingzhong appreciated the warm welcome in his first visit to AUG. He highlighted the purpose of his visit to enhance the academic cooperation with AUG, looking forward to raising AUG share of the Chinese academic support, which annually provides scholarships for Palestinian students, provides 450 of the Palestinian cadres with training courses in various fields, and provides 15 Palestinian scholars with the opportunity to participate in research projects in collaboration with Chinese universities.

  At the end of the visit, AUG and the delegates exchanged souvenirs. The delegates toured in AUG campus and visited the Faculty of Dentistry and its labs.
